Finance & Accounting Manager - Istanbul, Turkey

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a proven track record of success in a vital financial role. As a key role for an industry-leading global organization, you will be an important player in the Finance team’s future success. 


Reporting directly to the general manager in Turkey, based in Istanbul, you will have a dotted line to the Finance Manager of IMEA in Dubai and the finance team at HQ in Sweden. This role will have direct responsibility for accurate and timely reporting for Daniel Wellington in Turkey. 

 In this role, you will need to be very hands on as you have full responsibility for everything from an accounting perspective. The market is in a build-up phase and you will be the one implementing the local processes almost from the beginning. As the local business grows, so will the organization, and you will add more staff to your finance team. But initially the finance function will be only you.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising the day-to-day accounting operations and controlling the payroll and all other payroll related duties. In short, your main responsibilities will be:  


  • Guarantee 100% compliance with all relevant local legislation (e.g. statutory accounting standards, tax law, civil law) and internal group accounting guidelines.
  • Assure timely submission of accurate financial information to all stakeholders (e.g. tax authorities, other local authorities).
  • Effectively control the cash flow for the business.
  • Managing the year-end audit process.
  • Establishing an effective tax management in cooperation with the tax specialists and external tax advisors
  • Managing all retail and asset related IT - POS , Sales systems, stock systems
  • Handling all operational invoices; UPS , returns , custom clearance, shipments etc.
  • Coordinating assets protections, insurances, taxes, stock & inventories & internal audits.
  • Ensuring Safety Security compliances (health & safety audits , labor law reliabilities)
  • Handling administration with officials; e-Government & e- invoicing.


  • Manage the accounts payable and the accounts receivable. 
  • Supervise the bank statement postings as well as the reconciliation of the bank accounts and petty cash.
  • Reconciliation of all tax accounts.
  • Maintain the general ledger.


  • Responsible for the timely compilation of the monthly and annual closings including the communication of the closing timetable within the organization.
  • Carry out depreciation runs, post all accrual and deferral entries as well as revaluations, write-offs and provisions.
  • Reconcile all clearing and intercompany accounts and prepare the annual statutory financial statements.
  • Conduct a thorough review of all monthly reports and financial statements prior to the submission to HQ or authorities, making corrections as needed.


  • Coordinate and manage the payroll function.
  • Check and audit all payrolls, ensuring legislative compliance.
  • Administer, pay and conduct reconciliation of payroll tax, of pension provisions and special salary tax, as applicable.
  • Liaise with management and staff regarding all payroll enquiries and liaise with HR regarding recruitments, terminations, remuneration, terms of employment and other relevant matters.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.


You are amazing at managing your priorities while working with multiple stakeholders in different departments and different areas of your defined region. You have strong self-leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as strategic thinking and a creative mind.

  • Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Accounting
  • International Business Background
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience in a similar organization (organizations with wholesale/retail)
  • Experience with Microsoft NAV Dynamics (Navision)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven ability to drive business initiatives.
  • Great analytical skills.
  • Retail Experience
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
